The Westchester Index is an equity-focused community indicators project with data and analysis spanning 6 topic areas and 62 individual indicators. Our aim is to provide information that the Westchester community can use to examine disparities across racial, ethnic and socioeconomic divides – and then work to eliminate disparities.
We know that these disparities have their roots in centuries of inequitable policies, practices and treatment. By examining the data and working to understand root causes, we can work together to direct funding and resources for greater impact and develop solutions tailored to Westchester.
This website is designed to be easy to navigate and use, but a video providing a tour of the site and its functions is available here. It was created during a meeting to launch the project in spring 2022.
This section provides a quick, at-a-glance graphic summary of indicators for a variety of geographies and populations. Select the county, city or group of interest and display all indicators with available data, or a subset of your choosing. Dashboards can be created for racial and ethnic groups as well as regions, in order to show how different populations are faring.
